Summary

Current wind turbines are unable to withstand extreme wind conditions causing them to break.

Objective

The city of Kingston, Ontario is switching to a more sustainable source of energy by building a wind farm, located in Wolfeisland. Our objective was to design a sustainable wind turbine that will be able to generate enough electricity to power the whole city. 

 

To design a sustainable wind turbine for the city of Kingston, Ontario that is able to withstand extreme wind conditions.

Problem 

Current wind blades break after experiencing wind speed of 70km/hr

Solution

Create a design with a geometry that will produce the greatest amount of electricity. Also, choosing the material with a high yield strength and low density so the wind blade will not break.
